Located a football throw from Mile High Stadium, Briar Common Brewery + Eatery is one of the best places to go for food and beer pairings. Be it ales or lagers; it doesn’t matter, brewer Greg Dawson does it all. Case in point the two pictured above: Broken Bridge, a New England-style IPA, and Earth to Märzen, a German-style Oktoberfest lager.

Per the brewery:

Broken Bridge 2.0, New England-style IPA w/grapefruit, 7.5% ABV, 40 IBU, 8 SRM

Earth to Märzen, 5.2% ABV, 35 IBU, 18 SRM. Sun ripened caramel with notes of toffee. Our celebration of Oktoberfest.

With a turbid hazy orange color with a bright nose of fresh citrus, Broken Bridge has a full and soft mouth of hoppy brightness, citrusy rind, and herbal freshness. And with a deep mahogany color, Earth to Märzen exhibits soft malty flavor with tongue prickling hop bitterness and tight carbonation. It has a clean finish and a toasty, autumnal quality.

The beauty of American craft brewers is their versatility. One style dates back a coupleof hundred years; the other is as fresh as the day’s headlines. Drink both side-by-side, with a basket of salty fries tossed in rosemary and dredged in garlic aioli, and you’ll never want for variety.
